The scoop on Coffee grains and Upcircle skincare
First things first I am a HUGE fan of this Dragon’s Den winning brand and their practices!
When it comes to skin care we have found over the years the more natural the product the better. Upcircle is a all-natural skin care brand that transforms left over natural ingredients into quality skincare products.
Upcircle were founded in 2015 they are a natural, sustainable, vegan and cruelty free brand. There motto comes from OPTIT - meaning other peoples trash is another's treasure. The company had concerns over how much wasted coffee goes into landfill each day so therefore are partnered with around 100 small chain and independent coffee shops in London to collect their Arabica Coffee grounds and transform them in to scrubs! How amazing is that? Imagine your favourite coffee shop smell in a tube!
Up-Circle is all about reusing (i.e. upcycling) everyday products, such as coffee, tea leaves, fruit stones and flower petals. That’s right, things you would normally just throw away. Going down a storm in the press, we’re not remotely surprised! The likes of Forbes, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, The Independent and Refinery 29 are all excited about Upcircle and rightly so.
We have been lovingly testing Upcircle Citrus scrub for dry and dehydrated skin this week. With a base of shea butter & jojoba oil; rosehip, sweet orange and lemon verbena essential oils are the key ingredients. Orange oil acts as both an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Upcircle’s face scrub comes in two other blends:
Herbal - For Oily & Combination Skin
Floral - For Sensitive Skin
Our sample was in a jar, the smell is just incredible and the consistency is perfect for a face exfoliator. The real deal however is even more amazing because It is housed in a 100% aluminium tube with PP cap. packaging is 100% recyclable plus you can opt for a plastic-free refill option, keep your plastic cap and select "Refill: No Cap" from the dropdown menu. We’ve chosen to group the face scrub with Upcircle’s Scrub Tube Squeezer because it’s just so cool!
This superhero metal key is the perfect accessory to help you squeeze every little bit of your favourite scrub out of its aluminium tube. Use it right from the start to maintain pressure throughout.
The scrub left my skin feeling dewy, hydrated & moisturised and I would recommend using the scrub approximately 2/3 times a week (depending on your skin concerns and your sensitivity levels). Research shows that brewed coffee grounds have higher levels of anti-oxidants than fresh coffee so this is such a natural and obvious skincare hero!
